Raleigh police charge 2nd man with murder in fatal shooting on I-440 Beltline

Police have charged a second man with murder after an Aug. 18 shooting on the I-440 Beltine after which a man died near downtown Raleigh.

Demonte Tyquan Duncan, 25, of Raleigh is charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, according to a Raleigh Police Department news release.

Xavier Cortez Alston, 23, of Durham, was charged with murder Aug. 23 in the shooting.

A third man, Raekwon Quazai Williams, 26, was charged as an accessory after the fact.

Arlo Dontel Ramsey, 44, of Durham died in shooting, which occurred on the Beltline between New Bern Avenue and Brentwood Road.

Police found him with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Hillsborough Street early Aug. 18, but officers said later he was actually shot on the Beltline as police put out a bulletin searching for a white Chevrolet Aveo.
