Police on Friday arrested a 30-year-old man accused of firing gunshots outside a Durham apartment last week, when at least one bullet went into a room occupied by several children.
Jerome Bernard Carter was charged with 10 felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two misdemeanor counts of assault on a female, one misdemeanor count each of assault by pointing a gun and discharging a firearm into an occupied building, police said.
Police say Carter fired the weapon around 6 p.m. July 6 in the 1400 block of Wabash Street.
“Officers were told that a man had fired shots at several people standing in front of an apartment following a fight,” police said in news release Friday.
