A single-vehicle crash Wednesday resulted in two deaths on northbound Interstate 85 near Hillsborough, according to multiple media reports.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m., according to law enforcement. They said the vehicle, which was traveling northbound, left the highway and struck a tree near mile marker 165, the Chapel Hill/Hillsborough exit.
They said the victims died at the scene. Their identities were not released.
The right lane of the highway was closed while officials investigated the crash. It was reopened at about 5:30 p.m.
