On Oct. 4, the Sheriff's Office received a report from the Durham County Sheriff's Office that alleged Moore inappropriately touched and solicited sexual acts from the Hillside student while Moore was a JROTC teacher at the school, according to law enforcement.
The incident happened at Moore’s home, so he was charged in Johnston County, officials said.
Moore resigned Oct. 10, according to Chip Sudderth, spokesman for Durham Public Schools.
Sudderth could not provide additional information Monday afternoon on Moore’s employment history with Durham Public Schools.
The offense allegedly occurred during the 2015-16 school year.
It is alleged Moore committed the offenses at his home in Johnston County, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Moore was arrested at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon. He was released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
