Eight local Durham breweries are giving beer aficionados a way to sample their favorite flavors and help build a home for Habitat for Humanity of Durham.
Breweries will donate $1 from purchase of certain specified Habitat beers to help build a home. Participating breweries, restaurants and bars are Bull City Burger and Brewery, Bull Durham Beer Company, Durty Bull Brewing Company, Fullsteam Brewery, Ponysaurus Brewing, Starpoint Brewing, The Blue Note Grill and Pour Taproom.
Habitat also is offering another way to donate to the cause. For a $75 donation, beer drinkers can get a limited run six-pack of 32-ounce beers from six different local breweries. Tickets may be purchased at Habitat’s We CAN Build It Oktoberfest site. Tickets purchased may be redeemed for beer at the Durham Co-op Market, 1111 W. Chapel Hill St.
Habitat for Humanity builds low-cost houses for people in need. Durham’s chapter builds new homes, rehabilitates and repairs existing homes. Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Durham has helped more than 600 families with housing. The organization has built more than 300 homes, and repaired more than 150 houses in Durham, according to the Habitat website.
