A fire caused heavy damage to a two-story townhouse Wednesday evening, according to a Durham Fire Department report.
The Durham Fire Department responded at 9:14 p.m. to a fire at 508 Auburn Square Drive. On arrival firefighters reported a two-story townhouse with a working fire in the kitchen.
The fire was extinguished in about five minutes, but it caused heavy fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and heat damage throughout the home. Firefighters assisted an adult occupant out of the home, who sas not injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and The American Red Cross is assisting the adult who was displaced from the home.
Thirty-one firefighters responded to the call, including three from Durham County Fire-Rescue.
