A Durham police officer was hurt Friday night after rear-ending a tractor-trailer on TW Alexander Drive near South Miami Boulevard while speeding to a reported crime scene..
Durham Police Department spokesman Wil Glenn said the officer — who was not identified — crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer and the officer’s car caught fire. The officer, who escaped from the car, suffered minor injuries. He was responding to an armed robbery call on Darby Creek Lane at about 9:15 p.m. and was driving with while running his lights and siren.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Glenn said the incident remains under investigation.
