Durham police have closed the westbound lanes of T.W. Alexander Drive between Stirrup Creek Drive and Cedar Grove Drive because of a gas leak.
The road is expected to remain closed until 7 p.m.
The leak occurred in the 1700 block of TW Alexander Drive.
At 2 p.m., Durham Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi said Public Service Natural Gas (PSNC) was making repairs that are estimated to be completed around 7 p.m.

DFD was on the scene assisting PSNC with gas monitoring of the area.
Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael said westbound traffic can take Page Road or Cedar Grove Road to Lumley Road as a detour. Eastbound traffic can take South Miami Boulevard or Presidential Drive as a detour.
Durham County said in an emailed statement Thursday afternoon that “the cause of the damage, located in close proximity to the Amazon Distribution Center, 1733 TW Alexander Drive, is due to construction. There have not been any injuries or environmental damage at the location.”
