Raleigh police say a man found with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Hillsborough Street early Sunday morning was actually shot on the Beltline.

Police say Arlo Dontel Ramsey, 44, of Durham was taken to WakeMed, where he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, police asked for the public’s help in finding a car that may be connected with this incident. Preliminary information indicates the suspect(s) were traveling in a white Chevy Aveo or a white Chevy Sonic hatchback, according to a news release. Both are similar vehicles.

Police initially said they received a call about a shooting near Glenwood and Hillsborough at about 3:57 a.m. The driver of a vehicle that Ramsey was riding in had driven there and called for help.

Police were told Ramsey was shot on westbound Interstate 440, between New Bern Avenue and Brentwood Road. The shots came from another vehicle, according to a police spokeswoman.
