Police are seeking a 24-year-old man in connection with a Tuesday shooting into a car with a baby inside it.

Officers from the Hillsborough Police Department responded to South Churton Street near Cardinal Drive at about 5:30 p.m. and found a person with several gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

Police are seeking Elijah Rashad Dobson, who they say was driving a tan or beige 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan with North Carolina license plate HAM-1510.

Dobson is a black man between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 130 pounds, police said. He frequents areas in Durham and Raleigh and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to a news release.

The person who was shot, whose name, age and gender were not released, was taken to a hospital with “what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries,” police said.

The baby wasn’t hurt, according to the news release. The infant, who in the custody of the Department of Social Services on Tuesday has been returned to her mother, police said Wednesday afternoon.
