Orange County man faces charges of sex crimes against juveniles, authorities say
A 36-year-old Orange County man faces multiple counts of sex crimes against two juveniles.
Marcus Delamez Moore, 36, was arrested Saturday by Orange County deputies and charged with three counts of indecent liberties and two counts of sexual battery, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Investigators say a juvenile told her mother Saturday about an incident with Moore after returning from a sleepover at a friend’s house. Investigators then arrested Moore, the release said.
After interviewing others who were at the sleepover Sunday, investigators say they determined Moore had committed additional offenses with another juvenile. Additional charges against Moore were filed Sunday, the release said.
“Cases like this are very hard, not only on the survivors but on their families and others in the community,” Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in the release. “When trust is violated, it is a natural response to feel scared, angry, and vulnerable.”
Investigators say Moore was in a romantic relationship with an adult household member where the sleepover occurred.
Moore was being held at the Orange County jail under an $80,000 bail. He also was wanted on unrelated charges in Durham County. He has been ordered not to be within 1,000 feet of either juvenile, the release said.
Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 919-245-2900.
