Durham chef Scott Howell reflects on closing Nana’s restaurant
For 26 years, Durham chef Scott Howell lived his dream of owning and running a restaurant, the acclaimed fine dining Nana's. At the end of the month, Howell, an eight-time James Beard Award semifinalist, says he will close his flagship restaurant.

A couple of venomous cottonmouth snakes were spotted on a disc golf course on Topsail Island, about 50 miles north of Wilmington, North Carolina. Footage uploaded to Facebook on September 16 shows the two snakes lying partially submerged in water.
