CARRBORO -- Winmore, which bills itself as Carrboro's green-built, mixed-use village, has announced that two new portions of the neighborhood are currently under way: The Landings at Winmore and The Townhomes in Winmore.
Winmore is located off Homestead Road in the town of Carrboro with a Chapel Hill address and zip code.
The Landings, developed by Crosland Builders, will consist of 58 affordable family rental apartments encompassed in four buildings and integrated within Winmore. Homeowners in the two- and three-bedroom garden apartments and two-bedroom townhome units will enjoy access to all community amenities, including swimming pool and cabana, miles of trails both natural and paved, two children's playgrounds, ball field, and the meandering Bolin Creek.
A separate resident's center will also be included within The Landings at Winmore.
The Landings will offer open floor plans, fully equipped kitchens with pantries, washer/dryer connections, balconies and outdoor storage for each handicap-accessible unit.
The Townhomes in Winmore are currently being offered for pre-sale by David Weekley Homes, the nation's second-largest privately held homebuilder. These 1,000- to 1,350-square-foot townhomes will be priced from the $160,000s and will include many energy-efficient building techniques. David Weekley Homes is offering homebuyers several plans to choose from, all of which include the unique Life DesignSM concept that ensures the homes live as well as they look. Similar homes have been very well received in the neighboring community of Legends at Lake Hogan.
During the first half of 2010, Winmore has seen a whirlwind of activity with even more in the works for the rest of the year. As of July 1, eight new homes have been sold or are in the process of closing in 2010, leaving two move-in ready townhomes and five turnkey single-family homes for sale.
Construction is nearly completed on Phillips Square, Winmore's village center, with two sales in place and additional commercial and residential condos available. Winmore is also bustling with the construction of three pre-sales and three single-family homes that soon will be completed.
Winmore is designed as an entire neighborhood focused on green building and sustainable living but featuring classic architecture and modern amenities. Developed by Capkov Ventures, Winmore's builders include Dixon/Kirby & Company, G. Crabtree Homebuilding, Pickett Land & Building, Melville Builders, and Kovens Construction Company.
The neighborhoods' custom single-family homes, townhomes, and residential/commercial condos are being built to Energy Star standards and beyond and will incorporate the latest green building practices.
Winmore's amenities include over 2 miles of greenway walking trails in the woods and along Bolin Creek, a community pool, three natural wetland habitats, more than 26 acres of open space and a town center.
