The Eno River Farmers Market in downtown Hillsborough is ready to fulfill all your holiday grilling fantasies. And we're talking more than just great hamburgers.
On Saturday, the market will highlight all sorts of grill-ready, locally raised products. Of course top notch burger patties, bratwurst, and Italian sausages are a must. But get ready to be inspired by grilled sweet onions, summer squash, cherry tomatoes and more.
Recent high temperatures have kicked the market into high gear, with a ton of summer favorites: Tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, zucchini and eggplant.
Vendors will be offering samples of their products, grilled fresh on site at the market by chef Chris McKinley of Box Carr Farms. Johnny Rogers of Rogers Cattle Company will offer customers a taste of his pasture-raised, hormone and antibiotic free beef -- perfect for holiday hamburgers.
Audrey Lin and Debbie Donnald of Two Chicks Farm will offer samples of grilled potatoes, along with a recipe and cooking instructions.
Hurtgen Meadows will feature cherry tomato skewers, a terrific way to take advantage of the ever-increasing variety of tomatoes available at the market.
These and many other samples and cooking suggestions will help stretch your imagination and plan your holiday menu.
In addition, the market vendors will have their usual abundance of fresh, local vegetables, pasture-raised meats, crafts and baked goods.
The Eno River Farmers Market offers farm-fresh, sustainably grown produce, cheese, meat, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts from local growers and producers. It is open to vendors who reside and produce the items they sell within a 60-mile radius of Hillsborough. Vendors must be the original producer of their items.
