David Williams of Durham placed first in his division at the 2010 North Carolina State Truck Driving Championships, held in Smithfield earlier this month.

Williams, a driver for Con-way Freight, won first-place honors in the Step Van division. This was his seventh year taking part in the competition and his first finish in the top spot. Thanks to his win, he will move on to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, in August.

Williams is based out of Con-way Freight's Raleigh service center. He has worked for Con-way Freight for 15 years and driven more than 1 million career miles. His hobbies include photography.
