The Blue Devils, the top seed in the South Region, open NCAA Tournament play tonight against No. 16 seed Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena (7:45 p.m., WRAL).
While Duke (29-5) is making its 34th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, UAPB (18-15) is making its first.
The Golden Lions already made their debut with a victory over Winthrop in Tuesday’s play-in game, but now it gets more difficult to say the least: A No. 16 seed never has beaten a No. 1 seed in tournament history.
