Quincy Scarborough lecture -- The author will be discussing his latest book, "North Carolina Decorated Stoneware: The Webster School of Folk Potters," at 3 p.m. at Leland Little Auction & Estate Sales, LTD, 620 Cornerstone Court, Hillsborough.
The book explores the pottery traditions brought from Connecticut to Fayetteville, N.C., by Edward Webster and his brothers, Timothy and Chester, and how these traditions evolved into a rich North Carolina tradition of stoneware. "Shake Your Winter Blues" -- The 4th Annual 'Shake Your Winter Blues' series returns to The Carolina Crossroads Bar in The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill from 6:30 to 10 p.m. featuring Mick Mixon and his band Franklin St.

Theater workshop -- Deep Dish Theater Company presents a workshop of a new play by Mike Wiley, today and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday (matinee) at 2 p.m.
Wiley and Deep Dish Artistic Director Paul Frellick will host an audience discussion following each performance. Playwright and actor Wiley is known for his documentary pieces on historical events, but his newest work is a more personal piece about fatherhood and family. Irish folk music -- Seamus Egan and Solas make mind-blowing Irish folk music, maybe the world's best, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, and there will be a performance at The ArtsCenter, 300-G East Main St., Carrboro at 8:30 p.m.
The performance is part of The ArtsCenter's 4th annual Celtic Concert Series.

"The Importance of Being Earnest" -- This is the last weekend for this most enduring play by Oscar Wilde, hailed by some as one of the funniest comedies in the English language, with wicked wit and dead-on social satire in a Victorian confection of dual identities.

Carolina Indian Circle's 23rd Annual Powwow --The free powwow -- from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the American Indian center in UNC's Fetzer Gym -- generally draws dancers from all along the East Coast and a lot of folks from neighboring colleges and universities. Food, craft and jewelry vendors will be on hand. Dancers in traditional regalia will compete for cash prizes in categories including fancy dance, traditional dance, grass dance and women's jingle dancing.

Burwell School's Annual Easter Egg Hunt -- Geared towards children under the age of 12, the hunt will provide fun for the whole family.
Youngsters will scramble to find colored eggs on the school's grounds with goodies inside. There is a hunt for children under age 6 and one for children 7 to 12 years old simultaneously at 2 p.m. Bring you own baskets.

Field Day for Children -- This First Day of Spring Celebration will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Market Street at Southern Village.
The Tumble Gym in Southern Village is presenting the free event, which will feature a dozen games for children to try, and small prizes presented to each child who completes the activities circuit. Two organizations from the UNC School of Pharmacy, Kappa Epsilon and CAPS (Carolina Association of Pharmacy Students) will be participating in the event with health information and health-related activities for children.

Steve Forbert -- As the years pass, Forbert's approach to music continues to intrigue his loyal coterie of fans with his laconic delivery and hesitant assertions. Forbert, whose most popular song was "Romeo's Tune," was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame in 2006.
