HILLSBOROUGH -- This year's Orange County Republican Party County Convention will be held March 20, at Sunrise Church, off of New Hope Church Road at Exit 263 of Interstate 40.
Precinct meetings start at 9:30 a.m., followed by the general convention. Everyone is welcome.

Woman's Club to hold program
CHAPEL HILL -- The University Woman's Club will hold its Spring Program on March 25 at the Visitor Education Center of the N.C. Botanical Garden. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. in the Growing Classroom. At 10 a.m. Charlotte Jones-Roe, associate director for development at the garden, will speak to the group in the Colvard Conference Room. Small group tours of the Visitor Education Center will follow.
The Botanical Garden is located at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 (Fordham Boulevard) and Old Mason Farm Road. Visitors are welcome. Free parking is available.
Public invited to participate in 5K
CHAPEL HILL -- The public is invited to participate in the Get REAL & HEEL 5K Walk on March 27. The family oriented event benefits the 20-week after care program providing breast cancer survivors exercise and recreation therapy support at no cost.
This walk, which will be followed by food, raffles and children's activities, begins and ends at the UNC Outdoor Education Center, 3433 Country Club Road in Chapel Hill.
Sponsored by the Pink Pacers and numerous community businesses and organizations, all proceeds from the event will benefit Get REAL HEEL, a survivorship wellness program affiliated with UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Sahar Hekmati to speak at event
CHAPEL HILL -- Sahar Hekmati, a woman from Afghanistan who is now a U.S. citizen and a member of the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, will be the headline speaker at the Republican Women's Club of Chapel Hill meeting on March 19.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Dockside Restaurant in Cole Park Plaza on U.S. 15-501. The cost is $12. Guests are welcome.
