CHAPEL HILL -- The new arts gallery collective located at 109 E. Franklin St. and sporting work by more than 70 artists in its 3,400 square feet of space at the former Kerr Drug building will open on April 9. It will join in the tradition of the 2nd Friday Artwalk, an arts-driven monthly event. The gallery will have 25 member artists and 40 consigning artists, all chosen by jury, .
"The space looks spectacular and our artists range from award-winning painters, sculptors, ceramists, metal workers, textile artists and jewelry makers," said Gordon Jameson, chairman of the board of FRANK, which is a 501(c)(3), and received a start-up loan from Chapel Hill's small business revolving fund.
"FRANK is more than an art gallery; it's a movement," said Jameson. "We visualize FRANK as one of a handful of new businesses that will attract a new customer to downtown Chapel Hill and bring new, incremental business to the town's daytime and evening economies."

Studio 91 moves to Glen Lennox
CHAPEL HILL -- Studio 91 will open at the end of April in the Glen Lennox Shopping Plaza on Raleigh Road. In addition to the fine arts gallery and wine bar, it will have a private meeting space will available to those who pay an annual membership fee.
Studio 91, formerly in Meadowmont Village, carries canvas art -- originals and limited edition giclees. Most of the giclees -- the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing -- are hand embellished so you get a touch of the artist's originality without the cost of an original.
"The style of art Studio 91 carries one similar theme -- it all seems to capture 'Life as it happens,'" said Annette Girman. She and her husband own and operate Studio 91.
The new space was designed for those who want to host private parties for events such as the Carolina, Duke or N.C. State basketball games or Carolina Hurricanes hockey games, as an example, the owners said. The space can be used for private events, board meetings and client-hosting or business entertainment.
The private Studio 91 will have two flat screen TVs and free WiFi. There will be access to a private outdoor cigar patio from this lounge; expanded food selections from crafted menus from next door restaurants, Jujube and Bin 54; special member pricing for winemaker's tastings is included and one complimentary private room rental is a part of the membership benefits.
