The PAC-6 produced several champions at the state indoor track meet Saturday at UNC's Eddie Smith Field House.
In the 4-A championships, Southern's Desmond Lawrence won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.50, while teammate Sherman Ragland III was victorious in the 55 hurdles in 7.45 and was fifth in the long jump.
Northern's Blake Williams won the 1,600 in 4:28.78.
Zakiya Tyson of Jordan was second in the girls' 300 in 40.11 and took sixth in the 55 in a time of 7.17. Teammate Tristine Johnson won the triple jump with a leap of 38-5.25 and finished fourth in the 55 hurdles in 8.53.
Riverside's Aiesha Goggins was second in the 500 with a time of 1:15.60.
Orange and Cedar Ridge competed in the 1A/2A/3A championships.
Leading the Panthers were Sherri Owens with fourth place in the shot put, Michelle Dees at sixth in the high jump and Jamaal Owen in eighth in the long jump. The 1,600 relay team of Tyler Craven, Daniel Johnson, Blake Hall and Dylan Skinner placed fourth.
Cedar Ridge's Jake Geary finished second in the shot put, while Libby Florence tied for third in the high jump. Molly Harkavy was seventh in the 55 hurdles and eighth in the 300. The 1,600 relay team of Jordyn Rivenbark, Sara Bordeaux, Harkavy and Lindsey Fuller took third.
Soccer
Mullin earns Gatorade honor -- Jordan soccer player Teddy Mullin recently was selected as Gatorade's N.C. boys' soccer player of the year.
Mullin is the first Gatorade player of the year from Jordan and is a finalist for the national player of the year award, which will be announced in May.
Mullin (5-10, 150) tallied six goals and picked up 12 assists in leading Jordan (21-1) to the first undefeated regular-season in school history. He is a member of the Region III Olympic Development Program and was the PAC-6 player of the year and a first-team all-state selection on the 4-A level.
Mullin, a junior, has verbally committed to attend Wake Forest in 2011.
Basketball
Carolina Christian Conference Awards -- Trinity School and Cresset each had several players named to all-conference.
Philip James of Trinity was named the North Division player of the year, while teammate Hansen French earned tournament MVP honors. Mark Bell was on the all-conference team, and Will Shoe made the all-tournament team.
Ronnie Winston of Cresset was named the tournament most outstanding player, and Andres Perez was named to the all-tournament team.
On the girls' side, Camille Morgan of Trinity was picked as the North Division player of the year. Teammates Alana Brooke Asay and Taylor Pennington were chosen for the all-conference team.
Cresset's Megan Weber, Alyssa Parsons and Jennifer Ball were selected for the all-conference team.
