My wife and I attended a show at the very cool DPAC the other cold rainy night. I want to publicly thank a woman, who I expected to ask for some money(I would have helped her), she said with a big smile, "Happy Valentine's Day." I hope she had one, too.

Responding to a letter from "Center for Consumer Freedom" (2/7/10): I have been a member of PCRM, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, for many years, and I can assure you they are a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit watchdog group that keeps an eye on harmful, disease-producing foods and additives that Americans typically consume three times a day at every meal.
PCRM believes humans should try to avoid cholesterol-laden, saturated fat-filled animal products that are loaded with hormones and antibiotics. Those foods have been inextricably linked to heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, colon cancer and many more avoidable ailments. Presenting this type of food to young, impressionable children who really have no other choice can set deadly lifelong habits. Even the USDA admits that a vegetarian diet is one of the healthiest you can choose. Every article written in PCRM's magazine openly sources university studies and government reports.
It is the "Center for Consumer Freedom" that pretends to be something it is not. This organization condemns every vegetarian organization and animal protection group - including the Humane Society and the Center for Science in the Public Interest - because it is mostly funded by the tobacco industry, and the meat and dairy industries. It is against smoking bans, against lowering the blood-alcohol level for drivers, and questions the dangers of pesticides used on food crops. It has a vested interest in protecting the companies that fund it. (Check their Web site at www.pcrm.org)
