DURHAM -- Police are investigating a double homicide reported late Sunday at 111 Lynn Road in eastern Durham.
Officers were called to check on the welfare of a resident at that address at 11:46 p.m. and found the bodies of a man and woman inside the house, according to police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.
The causes of death had not been released Monday.
According to Michael, police had been at the house 18 times since Nov. 21, 2006 for a variety of reasons, including five reported break-ins, a reported larceny, a drug incident and at least four domestic disturbances.
The nature of each of those cases was not disclosed.
Police had taped off the area, near the intersection of Holloway Street, and onlookers Monday milled around the parking lot of a nearby convenience store with bars on its door and windows, trying to find out what had happened.
Investigators set up a command center at the parking lot, and officers were seen entering and leaving the modest, single-story house Monday afternoon.
No more information was made available by police on Monday. The names of the victims were also not released.
Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Antonio Gill at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29322, or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
