Gunnigle is an occupational therapist for the Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham. She is a member of the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association. In 2007 she became a member of Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and this year she was given the Marly's Mitchell Pioneer Award. She received a bachelor's in psychology and exercise sport science and a masters degree in occupational therapy form the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The board establishes licensing qualifications; conducts investigations of licensees; communicates disciplinary actions to authorities; issues, renews and revokes licenses; hires or appoints administrative personnel; conducts administrative hearings; establishes fees; and submits an annual report to the Governor and General Assembly. The governor appoints 7 members.

H. Shelton "Shelley" Earp III, the director of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at UNC, was honored recently with the General Alumni Association's Faculty Service Award. The association's Board of Directors presented the award to Earp, who also is a professor of pharmacology and medicine and Lineberger Professor of Cancer Research. He joined the faculty in 1977 after earning both his medical degree and a master's in biochemistry in 1970 from UNC.
