'Play Making' Workshop
Kidzu Children's Museum and PlayMakers Repertory Theatre are partnering for the first time to combine their expertise in "Play Making" and offer a dramatic art workshop for young children. Set against the backdrop of the Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" set, children will have the opportunity to warm up and perform on stage with one of PlayMakers company members, who will lead the workshop in a series of fun improvisational games meant to bring out the performer in all of us.
The event will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kidzu Children's Museum, 105 E Franklin St., Chapel Hill.
The cost is $15 per child, ages 4-8. Call (919) 933-1455 or visit http://www.kidzuchildrensmuseum.org/ for more information.

'First Black Marines'
Retired history professor Melton McLaurin will discuss the topic of his new book from UNC Press, "The Marines of Montford Point: America's First Black Marines," from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday at George Watts Hill Alumni Center's Royall Room in Chapel Hill.
The event is sponsored by the GAA's Carolina College for Lifelong Learning. The men who trained at Montford Point, a segregated facility on Camp Lejeune, waited for 65 years to have their story told to the nation. Theirs is a quintessential American story, a story of dogged perseverance in the face of adversity; of devotion to duty; and of a deep seated belief, despite daily evidence to the contrary, in the ultimate triumph of the nation's fundamental ideals.
The cost to attend is $15 ($5 for GAA members). For more information or to register, call (919) 843-5115 or e-mail ccll@unc.edu
