OXFORD -- The Vance-Granville Business Network meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 7:30-8:30 am.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday at the Comfort Inn, 1000 Linden Ave., Oxford. The Comfort Inn is just off Interstate 85 exit 204 and can be reached at (919) 692-1000 for directions.
The Feb. 25 meeting will be held at the Hampton Inn, 385 Ruin Creek Road, Henderson. The Hampton Inn is just off I-85 exit 212 and can be reached at (252) 492-3007 for directions.
Guests can visit three times, after which they must submit an application for membership. In order to become a member of VGBN, candidates must: a) promote, sell or be involved with a line business not currently represented by the existing members b) not compete with another member's major line of business in such a way as to make an existing member's membership less productive, c) contribute to the growth, community and productiveness of the Network, and d) be employed in their stated line of business in a committed fashion.

New Habitat house is slated
OXFORD -- Granville County Habitat for Humanity will celebrate the beginning of its ninth Habitat house with a 2 p.m. groundbreaking Feb.14 at 209 Wilmington St., Oxford.
The public is invited.
House sponsors, community volunteers, Habitat staff/board members, and the Crawford family, the latest homeowner selected by Granville Habitat, will build the house together. When it is finished, the Crawfords will purchase a no-interest, no-profit mortgage from Granville Habitat. Sponsors for the home include Granville Health System, Food Lion and Premier Women's Health Professionals.

Granville Habitat is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
