Doggie travel: A new pet transport and pet service business has opened in Durham.

Juan Galvis, a Campbell University graduate, has launched The Pet Wagon, offering local and long-distance transportation for dogs, cats, birds and other animals in the Durham and Chapel Hill areas.

The wagon offers climate control, cushy kennels and GPS tracking for curious and concerned pet owners via its Web site, www.thepetwagon.com.

The company also provides other services, such as walking, feeding and caring for a pet when the owner is out of town. Trips start at $18. Pet care services start at $12.

Galvis was born into a cattle ranching family in Bucaramanga, Columbia, and said he grew up loving and respecting animals.

"To me this is more than just a business. I have a really big heart and a passion for animals," he said. "They enhance our lives greatly in so many ways."

Closing: Buzz couldn't recall the last time we heard of a liquor store closing, but that's about to happen to the ABC Store not far from the Hayti Heritage Center.

The ABC Store at 905 Fayetteville St. will be closing Feb. 27.

A spokeswoman for the Durham County ABC Board said the reason for closing the facility is that it's older and outdated.

"While revenues at the location have been consistent, the counter-service facility is outdated," said Anna Branly.

The Durham County ABC Board will not be reopening a store at that location. The ABC stores nearest to that spot are at 1930 Holloway St., 3620 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. and 2806 Hillsborough Road.

For information on other locations, go to www.durhamabc.com or call (919) 419-6217.

New addition: Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, the longtime funeral home on West Main Street, has opened up its crematorium located adjacent to the chapel at the funeral home.

The crematorium offers a public gathering area, including a living room setting for people to meet and a window that enables viewing to the crematorium itself should people wish to see the casket placed in the chamber.
