From wire reports
KENANSVILLE, N.C. -- Singer and guitarist Willie Nelson canceled a North Carolina concert because of a bum hand about an hour after several band and crew members were busted for allegedly possessing moonshine and marijuana.
Alcohol Law Enforcement spokesman Ernie Seneca said Friday that six members of Nelson's band and crew have been charged with misdemeanor possession offenses. They were issued citations before Nelson was scheduled to take the stage Thursday.
Longtime Nelson bass player Dan Edward "Bee" Spears, 60, Franklin, Tenn., and five others were charged with possession of non-tax-paid alcohol, Seneca said. Two of the six were also charged with marijuana possession.
The charges came after officers smelled marijuana aboard a tour bus and were given permission to search it, Seneca said.
Nelson publicist Elaine Schock declined comment.
Harvard's Hasty Pudding honors Hathaway
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway has received a good-natured ribbing from Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals student drama troupe.
The group's Woman of the Year was honored Thursday with a parade down Massachusetts Avenue near the university followed by a roast.
She joins a distinguished list of past recipients that includes Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Meryl Streep.
Hathaway was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress in 2009 for her role in "Rachel Getting Married."
After the parade, Hathaway was roasted on stage in typical Hasty Pudding Theatricals fashion where then she slew a "dragon."
Stephanopoulos and Clinton may be cousins
NEW YORK -- George Stephanopoulos has learned that he may be genetically linked to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Stephanopoulos, co-anchor of ABC News' "Good Morning America," underwent DNA testing to promote "Faces of America With Henry Louis Gates Jr.," a four-part series on family histories premiering Feb. 10 on PBS.
Stephanopoulos, 48, learned of his possible link to Clinton during Friday's "GMA" show.
"I'm getting a little nervous here," he said before Gates gave him the news.
"You are very likely a maternal cousin with Hillary Clinton," Gates told him.
"You're putting me on," Stephanopoulos said. "Sorry, Secretary Clinton. I did not set this up."
PBS says Gates used the latest tools of genealogy and genetics to explore the family histories of 12 Americans, including Elizabeth Alexander, Stephen Colbert, Yo-Yo Ma, Queen Noor, Meryl Streep and Kristi Yamaguchi.
