ORANGE BRIEFS
HILLSBOROUGH -- The Northern Orange MLK Committee is sponsoring a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Commemorative March at 9 a.m. today from the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough to Dickerson Chapel AME Church, where the Rev. Donald Holman Sr. will host the prayer program. The marchers will continue on to Mount Bright Baptist Church where the Rev. Derric A. Gregory Sr. will host the closing worship service starting at 10 a.m. The Rev. Obadele St. George will be the guest speaker.
This program draws more than 500 attendees and features a young people's choir from the community.
Mebane gala honors museum
MEBANE -- The Mebane Historical Society, Inc. announces a "Gala Event" celebrating the re-opening of the Mebane Historical Museum on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The featured exhibit, "Mebane, NC: The Biggest Little Town on Earth," tells the story of Mebane's early prosperity and growth. Music will be provided by Joe Thompson and Mebanesville as part of the afternoon program, and light refreshments will be served.
The museum is located at 210 W. Lee St. in Mebane. The inclement weather date is Jan. 30. For more information, contact Peggy Boswell, museum director at (919) 563-5054.
