CHAPEL HILL -- A Wake Forest man suspected of committing a string of business break-ins that prompted coordinated law enforcement investigations in five jurisdictions spread over three counties was arrested on Friday, authorities said.
Chapel Hill Police investigators charged 30-year-old Corey Scott Shepherd of 3512 Topaz St., Wake Forest, with the following:
n 19 counts of felony breaking and entering.
n One count of felony larceny.
n 20 counts of misdemeanor damage to property.
Shepherd was arrested at Chapel Hill Police Department headquarters and is suspected in a rash of area business break-ins that have occurred in recent months.
Chapel Hill investigators worked in concert with investigators from the Carrboro, Durham, and Hillsborough Police Departments, as well as the Chatham County Sheriff's office, in an effort to develop a suspect after each jurisdiction experienced a series of overnight smash-and-grab break-ins.
Shepherd was released on a $43,000 unsecured bond and will have his first appearance in court on Tuesday.
