DURHAM -- Most Durham County offices will close Jan. 18, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday holiday. All offices will reopen and resume normal hours of operation on Jan. 19.

- The county's Solid Waste and Recycling centers will close on Jan. 18. Residents with a solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items on Jan. 19 after 7 a.m. The county roadside recycling collection (Schedule B) for the week of Jan. 18 will not change.

- The Department of Social Services will close its offices and the office of Durham's Alliance for Child Care Access on Jan. 18. To report child or adult abuse and neglect, call 911 to reach an on-call social worker.
