DURHAM -- For the fifth year, Durham County government will team up with the city of Durham to host its annual City-County Martin Luther King Jr. Employee Observance Program on Thursday at noon.
The event will be at First Presbyterian Church, 305 East Main St.
J.D. Greear, pastor of The Summit Church of Durham, will deliver a message based on King's philosophy of service.

DURHAM -- A photo exhibition by Mike Dellerman titled "Animals of Africa" will open Saturday at Durham Technical Community College's Main Campus Library.
A reception will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. Visitors can meet the photographer, who teaches courses through the college's Division of Corporate and Continuing Education.
School system seeks input
DURHAM -- The Durham Public Schools Board of Education is conducting a nationwide search for a new superintendent.
The board is seeking public input into the decision.
Parents and community members are encouraged to complete a survey regarding attributes they would like to see in the superintendent.
Visit www.dpsnc.net and click on the link to "Superintendent Search" to complete the online survey (available in English and Spanish). Printed copies of the survey are available in all school offices and at all branches of the Durham County Public Library, or call 919-560-3652 and a survey will be mailed to you. Surveys must be returned by Jan. 21.
