Identity theft charge made

PITTSBORO -- A Chapel Hill man landed in trouble with the law for using a Sam's Club account of his ex-girlfriend.

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office arrested Steven Mark Holley, 51, of 45 Brittany Lane, Chapel Hill and charged him with felonious financial identity theft. He was released under a $1,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Jan. 4.

On Dec. 2, Karen Meister of Lady Bug Lane, Chapel Hill, reported to deputies that her former boyfriend told her that he had purchased an entertainment center from Sam's Club for more than $1,100. An investigation by Sgt. Chris Perry ensued and as a result, Holley was arrested.

Dispatchers face opium charges

PITTSBORO -- Two 911 dispatchers for Chatham County Emergency Management who were arrested on drug charges in an opium investigation were scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Monday.

The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation's prescription drug diversion unit, with the assistance of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, arrested Stephen Todd Oldham, 37, of 1624 Siler City Glendon Road, Siler City, and Bradley Jason Howard, 30, of 223 Edwards Hill Church Road, Siler City.

Oldham was arrested and charged with seven counts of felonious obtaining a controlled substance by fraud/forgery and seven counts of felonious trafficking in opium. Oldham was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.

Howard was arrested and charged with five counts of felonious obtaining a controlled substance by fraud/forgery; four being in Randolph County and one in Chatham County. Howard was released under a $5,000 unsecured bond by the Chatham County Magistrate's Office and was released under a $5,000 secured bond for Randolph County charges.

Deputy arrests man for assault

PITTSBORO -- On Dec. 30, Jeremy Tootle, 19, of 632 Christopher Road, Chapel Hill, was arrested by Chatham County Sheriff's Deputy Matthew Meyer for assault on a female and damage to real property.

He was jailed under a no bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Jan. 13.
