Eno update: The opening of Eno Restaurant & Market, a farm-to-table concept restaurant planned for downtown, has been delayed again.

Jamie DeMent, one of the partners behind the restaurant, said they are looking for a new contractor.

The restaurant could get a building permit by the middle of this month, she added.

"Work should restart next week and finish in 10 to 12 weeks," DeMent wrote in an e-mail. "So, we are looking at an early spring opening."

The restaurant had hired Portland chef Marco Shaw to be in charge of a daily changing menu made from local, seasonal ingredients mostly sourced from Coon Rock Farm, the Orange County farm of Eno owner Richard Holcomb.

For information on the new restaurant, go to www.enorestaurantandmarket.com.

Good deeds: The block party along the Brightleaf/The Federal stretch of Main Street in October raised enough money to buy a custom tricycle for a child with disabilities.

Calvin Thompson, a 10-year-old boy with nonverbal autism, received the Amtryke therapeutic tricycle at Alivia's Durham Bistro recently.

The event in October was held on the weekend of the World Beer Festival and offered music, food and beer in a fundraiser for the new RDU Friends Chapter of AMBUCS, a nonprofit service organization that seeks to increase mobility and independence for people with disabilities.

More than $1,000 was also raised for the Eno River Rugby Club, according to Alivia's owner Fergus Bradley.

Bradley said they are looking into having a second event in February to officially present Thompson with the Amtryke. The event, to be located in Alivia's, will again be a fundraiser for the local chapter of AMBUCS.

Opening: Walgreens is having grand opening events for three stores -- two in Durham and one in Chapel Hill -- on Jan. 15.

The drug store chain is opening a new location in Hope Valley Commons and at 2104 N.C. 54 in Durham. The store in Chapel Hill is at 108 E. Franklin St.

The stores will hold ribbon cuttings with elected officials in Durham.
