Info sought on armed robbery

DURHAM -- Police are asking for information about an armed robbery that happened Saturday night on South Benjamine Street.

A woman was leaving a house around 7 p.m. when two men forced her back inside the house at gunpoint.

One man pointed a shotgun at several residents, including an elderly, handicapped woman.

The suspects slapped a second woman in the face and then dragged her.

The suspects took cash and jewelry and fled in a white, box-style SUV similar to a Jeep Cherokee.

The vehicle was driven by a third man and was last seen on Sater Street.

The suspect with the shotgun was described as a young, slender black man wearing a black skull cap with red and yellow stripes, a black sweater and blue jeans with a design on the back.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Anne Cristaldi at 560-4281, ext. 29123 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200.

CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
