DURHAM -- Most city offices will be closed today for New Year's Day.

n The Department of Solid Waste Management will be closed today. There are no changes to either the recycling or garbage collection schedules. Today's scheduled bulky item and yard waste collections will occur on Monday.

n The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station) will be closed today.

n The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed today.

n Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) and ACCESS will operate on their Sunday/Holiday schedule in which service is provided from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. DATA's administration office will be closed today. For more information regarding DATA's holiday schedule, contact (919) 485-RIDE or visit http://data.durhamnc.gov.

n Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will close its administrative office, all recreation centers, all neighborhood centers, and all indoor rental sites today.

n Durham One Call will be closed today. Residents may complete an online service request can do so by visiting the City's Web site at www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall or by leaving a message with Durham One Call's after-hours answering service.

County closings

Most county offices will be closed today for New Year's Day.

All offices will reopen on Jan. 4.

The Durham Center will follow the county's holiday closing schedule. Durham Center Access, a facility for stabilization and short-term treatment of adults with mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse at 309 Crutchfield Street, will maintain its 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year schedule.

All Durham County Library branches are closed today. They will reopen Saturday.

The Durham County General Services Department will close all Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Centers today and reopen Saturday at 7 a.m.

County's roadside recycling customers on Schedule B normally serviced on Friday will be collected on Saturday.

Set out your recycling bins before 7 a.m.to avoid a missed collection.

The Department of Social Services will close its Main Street and Duke Street offices today. To report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect, call 911 to reach an on-call social worker.

Other closings

All federal offices, state offices, courts, banks and Post Offices will be closed today.

Triangle Transit Authority buses will not run today.

All North Carolina ABC stores are closed today.
