Gingerbread village
Relish the festive display of the 7th Annual Gingerbread House Competition entries. Contestants from Chapel Hill and surrounding areas will showcase their creativity and imagination with their edible masterpieces this holiday season. 12 Days of Christmas
Self-guided tours of commissioned artists' unique interpretations of verses of the traditional holiday carol, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," will be available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Jan. 3 at The Carolina Inn, 211 Pittsboro St., Chapel Hill.
This year's new commissioned piece is "It's Snowing at The Carolina Inn," by Chapel Hill artist Elaine O'Neil.
Dolls and children's toys for boys and girls, young and old, can be seen. Childhood treasures, old and unusual, passed down through the families of Nell and Gordon Rutherford will be in the exhibit, which will include at least one item from every decade in the 20th century, and some going as far back as 1880.

Old Chapel Hill Cemetery
Guided walking tours of the historic cemetery located at the corner of Country Club Road and South Road on the edge of the UNC campus will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, South Road, Chapel Hill.
The site was part of a land grant given by the state of North Carolina in 1796 to develop the university. The first recorded burial was in 1798. Participants taking the guided tour are asked to meet at the cemetery's gazebo on South Road at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. The tour is $5 per person and sponsored by the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill. Please call ahead to (919) 969-0018 if you plan to take the Saturday tour.

Historic Homes Hike
Need to get out of the house? Take a 3-mile on- and off-trail hike to see four of the Eno River State Park's historic homesites at 1 p.m. Saturday.

At 1:15 p.m. Sunday at the Ackland Art Museum on the UNC campus at the corner of Columbia and Franklin streets, interested people may share their interest in art with a child in this interactive gallery tour designed for 6- to 12-year-olds and their families.

Walk this Way Guided Tour of Franklin Street takes place Sundays at 2 p.m.

A 5-course menu with wine pairings will cost $125 per person (plus tax and gratuity) from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Il Palio Ristorante in The Siena Hotel, Chapel Hill.
