DURHAM — Police jailed a man Saturday after accusing him of using counterfeit money to buy a used car.
Devandra Jawan Mack, 30, of Durham, faces counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, possessing more than five counterfeit instruments, driving with a revoked license, driving with an expired registration, speeding 63 mph in a 45 mph zone and giving an officer fictitious information.
He also was held on arrest orders alleging he failed to appear in court to answer charges of misdemeanor possession of alcohol, felony fleeing in a motor vehicle to elude arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
Mack was held in the Durham County jail pending a $50,000 secured bond on the assault charge.
Warrants allege that Mack intentionally gave a man 10 counterfeit $100 bills to pay for a 1991 Honda Accord.
His given names were spelled variously on warrants as Devandra, Devondra, Jewan and Jawan. Durham County Sheriff’s Office detention records list him as Devandra Jawan Mack. Warrants also gave four different Durham addresses as his place of residence.

David Christopher Kelly, 42, also faces a charge of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, is accused of failing to appear in court to answer charges of driving while his license was revoked and carrying a concealed weapon, and was wanted for a probation violation.
Kelly was arrested Friday and held in the Durham County Jail pending a $500,000 secured bond on the assault charge.

N.C. Department of Correction records indicate that Kelly was on probation following a Jan. 8 conviction for driving while impaired.
Teen charged in armed robbery
DURHAM — Police have charged a Durham teen in connection with an armed robbery that happened in October.
Ronald Deshaun Lloyd, 18, is being held in the Durham County Jail pending a $500,000 secured bond on the robbery charge.
Warrants and Durham County Sheriff’s Office records indicate that Lloyd was arrested on the robbery charge Friday, but had been in custody since Tuesday.
