PEOPLE IN THE NEWS
Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, and the others were questioned and released, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the case was referred to the Brooks County Sheriff's Office.
A sheriff's spokeswoman told The Associated Press that she could not comment.
The tour buses were stopped in Falfurrias, about 80 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, where the rapper is scheduled to perform Sunday night.
Lil Wayne played in Hidalgo on Thursday. A few minutes before the doors were to open for his show in Laredo on Friday, it was announced that the show was postponed. A marketing manager for the venue told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that it would be rescheduled.
The rapper pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in a New York case, a charge that stemmed from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. His plea deal calls for a year in jail in that case. He is set to appear for sentencing in February.
Tina Knowles, Beyonce's mother, files for divorce
HOUSTON -- Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from the pop diva's father and manager, Mathew Knowles.
Tina Knowles began legal proceedings Nov. 11, according to documents filed with the Harris County Court Clerk. She launched the House of Dereon clothing line with Beyonce in 2006.
"The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners," the couple said in a statement provided to The Associated Press on Friday. "If anyone is expecting an ugly messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed. We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter."
The divorce filing came about a month after Mathew Knowles was named in a paternity suit.
Los Angeles resident Alexsandra Wright claims in the lawsuit that he is the father of her unborn child.
Tina and Mathew Knowles wed in 1980. In addition to 27-year-old Beyonce, they have another daughter, 23-year-old singer Solange.
The split was first reported by Bossip.com.
Jackson's 'Captain EO' to return to Disneyland park
From wire reports
LOS ANGELES -- "Captain EO" is moonwalking back to Disneyland.
The theme park announced plans Friday to bring back the 3-D sci-fi film starring Michael Jackson next February, over 23 years after the attraction debuted in Anaheim, Calif. The 17-minute film starred the late King of Pop as a singing-and-dancing intergalactic commander. It was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and executive produced by George Lucas.
In the film, Jackson leads a goofy alien and robot crew as they battle a wicked queen played by Anjelica Huston. "Captain EO" originally opened in Disneyland's Tommorrowland in 1986 and ran for more than a decade. Identical versions later opened at other Disney theme parks. They were all closed by 1998.
Jackson died June 25 at age 50.
