County closings slated for Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1
DURHAM -- Most county offices will close on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and remain closed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday.
All offices will reopen on Dec. 28.
Most county offices will also be closed Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.
All offices will reopen on Jan. 4.
The Durham Center will follow the county's holiday closing schedule. Durham Center Access, a facility for stabilization and short-term treatment of adults with mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse at 309 Crutchfield Street, will maintain its 24 hour,7 days a week, 365 days a year schedule.
All locations of the Durham County Library will be closed Dec. 24-Dec. 27. All locations will reopen on Dec. 28.
All library branches will close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, and reopen on Jan. 2.
The Durham County General Services Department will close all Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Centers at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and reopen Dec. 28.
Durham residents with a current solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items on Dec. 28 at 7 a.m.
The Convenience Centers will also be closed on Jan. 1 and reopen on Jan. 2 at 7 a.m.
County's roadside recycling customers on Schedule B normally serviced on Fridays will be collected on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 instead of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Set out their recycling bins before 7 a.m. on the day of pick up to avoid a missed collection.
The Department of Social Services will close its Main Street and Duke Street offices Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. To report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect, call 911 to reach an on-call social worker.
