Ply Gem, a Cary-based leading manufacturer of window and door products for residential construction, recently donated windows to assist the Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers with a rehabilitation home renovation.

The 4,200-square-foot home in the Historic Cleveland Holloway District, will provide 17 individuals with improved housing accommodations, giving recovering residents greater independence and the confidence to transition into the community and become successful members of society.

"As a business in the Triangle area, we are always looking for ways to help our neighbors and contribute to the greater good of the community," said Keith Pigues of Ply Gem. "We believe that this new residence will greatly improve the lives of program participants and we are honored that TROSA approached us for a windows donation to help make this house a home."

The rehabilitation site is being renovated with the help of TROSA participants who are also future residents of the home. The site is within a short distance from one of TROSA's largest training businesses -- TROSA Moving -- reducing commute times for residents who work at the organization. It is also located in an active community, allowing program members to participate in local activities such as cleanups and volunteering. Getting involved in the community will not only benefit the surrounding area, but will also help residents make a positive impact.

"Through this generous donation, it is easy to see that Ply Gem is a community-minded company and more than willing to support our cause by donating windows to a home that represents opportunity, success and independence," said Michelle Kucerak, director of development for TROSA. "This is the exact type of generosity any nonprofit program such as TROSA needs to progress."

The home is on schedule to be completed in 2010.
