DURHAM — A man charged this summer with killing his ex-wife’s husband was denied a bond reduction Monday and remains locked up under a $500,000 secured bond for first-degree murder.
Assistant Public Defender Shannon Tucker sought to have Randy Tyson Bledsoe’s bond reduced to $25,000. But Superior Court Judge Ronald Stephens refused the request.
A grand jury in June indicted Bledsoe, 51. At the time of the slaying he was living at 2402 Redwood Drive.
Police believe Bledsoe on June 25 kicked in a door at a West Markham Avenue residence and shot and killed 44-year-old Edward William Riddle, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested Bledsoe at his Redwood Road home about 20 minutes after officers responded to the murder scene.
Bledsoe originally was jailed in the Durham County Jail without bond. Bond was eventually set — at $500,000.
Assistant District Attorney Mitchell Garrell is prosecuting the case.
