Firm to provide fresh produce

CHAPEL HILL — Accountability Cleaning and Restoration Company is helping Orange County churches to distribute fresh produce to members of congregations that are challenged this holiday season.

Small business owners Shawn M. Trimble and Michael D. Horton will be distributing 100 vouchers for farm fresh collards/turnip greens to area churches. Passionate about serving their communities and growing fresh produce, these co-owners know firsthand that holiday dinners are more special when meals are prepared with fresh ingredients. Traditionally, fresh collards and turnip greens are staple salads that many people appreciate serving and preparing for the holidays.

Accountability Cleaning specializes in turn-key (move-in/out) cleaning and restoration services for apartment complexes, real estate management companies and private property owners. For more information, contact Shawn Trimble at (919) 949-9379.

AAA gives Four Diamond awards

CHAPEL HILL — AAA Carolinas has honored 11 accommodations and nine restaurants for superior quality and service, including AAA Four Diamond awards for Eastern North Carolina awarded to Chapel Hill’s Carolina Inn (13 years) and the Siena Hotel (14 years).

The awards ceremony was held at the Carolina Inn .

Eastern North Carolina Four Diamond restaurants that received awards included il Palio Restaurant (20 years) in Chapel Hill.

“AAA’s requirements for a Four Diamond rating are rigorous, and those that win it are among the best hotels and restaurants in the world,” said Dave Parsons, president and CEO of AAA Carolinas.

“Only 3.5 percent of the more than 58,000 annual inspections conducted nationally result in a Four Diamond rating.”

AAA gives the Four Diamond awards annually to qualified hotels and restaurants in North America.

More than 2,000 properties nationally earn the Four Diamond ratings after specially trained evaluators conduct anonymous overnight stays or dine incognito.

Macy’s to honor local generosity

CHAPEL HILL — Macy’s teams will be out on the streets of the Triangle in full force on Friday with $25 Macy’s “Believe Bonus” gift cards to reward individuals who demonstrate generosity and kindness. Anyone seen doing something nice for another person could walk away with a reward.

The Macy’s street teams will be dressed as 19th century newsboys — calling to mind the famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus’” editorial from the New York Sun in 1897 written to Virginia O’Hanlon.

The effort will be conducted from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Franklin Street near the intersection of Columbia Street.

In an effort to acknowledge and celebrate the spirit of generosity and goodwill, Macy’s has declared Dec. 11 to be National Believe Day. At all stores, customers can mail letters to Santa at Macy’s. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation up to $1 million.

Macy’s stores also will give out $10 gift cards at its stores to anyone named Virginia, while supplies last with valid identification.
