Help brighten others' holiday
All contributions go directly to the people who need your help. The sponsors of Share Your Christmas -- the Durham County Department of Social Services, Volunteer Center of Durham and The Herald-Sun -- donate the administrative costs of this program.

Case 612: The parents of four, ages 1 to 11, are unemployed and unable to locate any work. The father does odd jobs when he can find them. They have been searching for gainful employment for several months in this tough economy. They recently lost their home and have moved into a 1-bedroom apartment. This family would really appreciate any help that could be provided to them to make this holiday season one to celebrate.
Case 637: This 40-year-old mentally handicapped man has two children who are with him off and on. Things are not always stable, but he would really appreciate some help this holiday season.
Case 638: What a joy it is to meet this 72-year-old grandmother and her 30-year-old disabled grandson! They are very devoted to each other and happy to be together. She is always helping other family members, and they admire and respect her. DSS manages her finances, and she is very grateful. Can you help them this Christmas?
Case 639: This single mother of a 10-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl has no money left once the bills are paid. Can someone help with warm clothes, toys and games?
Case 640: This 56-year-old disabled man is just moving into an apartment after a period of homelessness. He needs everything for an apartment, but is only asking for a battery-powered drill. He could use anything in the way of linens, kitchen supplies, bedding, etc.
Case 641: This single mother of five children, ages 4 months to 7 years, is working hard to support the family on her salary as a housekeeper. Clothes, linens, toys and games for Christmas would bring smiles to all their faces.
Case 642: This 41-year-old mentally disabled man lives in a rooming house. Once he pays the bill for his room, there is very little left over for food and clothing. Can someone send holiday cheer his way?
Case 643: This 49-year-old disabled lady has had some serious health and behavioral issues over the past year, but she is recovering nicely. She deserves some relief from all she's been though. She has a few items on her wish list, but she would really like a surprise, too!
Case 644: Recently relocated to the Durham area, Mom and Dad in this family are employed, but their hours have been cut back significantly due to the economy. The children rage in age from 1 to 11. They all need coats, and the family needs linens and kitchen supplies.
Case 645: This 76-year-old woman lives alone with many medical conditions. She would like a white sweater and blue pajamas. She would be so happy if you sponsored her this year.
Case 646: This 88-year-old man lives with his daughter. He has very limited mobility and has been diagnosed with arthritis, Parkinson's, incontinence, diabetes and a history of stroke. He needs 24 hour care. Can you help with some pajamas, a fleece throw and some socks?
Case 647: This 48-year-old mentally disabled woman lives alone and is trying very hard to make ends meet. She tries to work but is unable to maintain employment. She has no stable family to offer any support. A little something at Christmas would lighten her load and give her a little hope.
Case 648: This 70-year-old veteran was very active in the community for many years, but now suffers from dementia. He desperately wants to remain in his home, and DSS has recently begun managing his finances. Once the bills are paid, there is nothing left. Some linens and clothes would make him very happy this Christmas.
Case 649: This 30-year-old father of four is employed, but not making a lot of money. He's working very hard to make sure his family's needs are met. Kitchenware, toys and clothes would help a great deal.
Case 650: This single mother of four works full time at a Laundromat to provide for her family, but is struggling to make ends meet. Can you help this Christmas with household items, games and toys?
Case 651: Only able to work part time due to multiple chronic illnesses, this mother of two needs help for her family to have a nice holiday. She is a good and involved mom who works hard to provide for her family. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Case 652: This 61-year-old severely disabled lady is bed ridden, but maintains a wonderful, positive attitude. Her living conditions are not ideal for her care, but she does not complain. Her husband and a caretaker do the best they can to provide for her needs, but money is extremely tight. She hasn't had any new clothes in a long time, and she is so excited about the thought of getting some new things for Christmas.
Case 653: This 39-year-old, single mother of two could really use some help this Christmas. She is currently unemployed, but desperately seeking work in this tough economy.
Case 654: This single father is struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues, but taking good care of his 11-year-old daughter. He is unable to work due to his illnesses, but would very much like to provide a nice Christmas for his daughter.
Case 655: This single mother of two children, one college age, needs help to provide a merry Christmas. Household items and a CD player for the 15-year-old son would surely warm their hearts.
Case 656: This unemployed 52-year-old man struggles suffers from mental health problems and struggles to maintain housing. He could use some assistance this season to help him have a brighter holiday.
Case 657: This 50-year-old mother of two boys, ages 9 and 11, receives mental health services to address her needs. Please help this family by sponsoring them with household items and clothes.
Case 658: As a CNA for many years, this 59-year-old woman spent much of her life caring for others. Her leg has been amputated at the hip, and she has since suffered a stroke, which further limits her mobility. A nightgown and some hand cream would feel really good to her this holiday season.
Case 659: This 28-year-old, single mother of two has a newborn baby and works part time. She just returned to work and does not have enough money to give her children a nice holiday season. Her 8-year-old son loves the outdoors and would love a bike. Any gifts would be greatly appreciated.
Case 660: This 31-year-old mother of 3, ages 5 to 8, is unemployed and actively seeking employment. The family is trying to make ends meet with SSI income, but Mom is not able to buy anything for her kids because her expenses exceed her income. Please help this family.
