-- ICAP Energy is planning to donate 100 percent of revenues of the Durham office to Big Brother Big Sister of the Triangle and the Durham Rescue Mission on Wednesday.
The London-based energy derivatives brokerage company holds an annual event during the holiday season called "Charity Day" when all revenues and commissions are donated to a few charities. The Durham office has given away about $319,000 locally in the past five years.
ICAP's Durham office, off N.C. 54 near the AICPA building, employs about 23 young people and hopes to raise $70,000 or more next week.
The company overall raised $11 million at its various locations around the world in 2008.
-- GlaxoSmithKline has placed an executive on a six-month assignment to volunteer with a local organization.
Carol Rockett, manager of Scientific Communications for GSK's Neurosciences Global Product Strategy, will work as a full-time volunteer for Triangle Tomorrow until April to help expand the organization's Triangle Air Awareness Program outreach to area elementary schools.
The volunteer initiative is called the PULSE Volunteer Partnership, which allows employees to contribute to communities while developing their own leadership capabilities.
Triangle Tomorrow works to improve the quality of life and economic competitiveness of the 13-county Research Triangle Region.

-- William Greenlee, president and CEO of The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences, received the Benjamin Rush Award and delivered the 2009-10 Rush lecture at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
Each year, Dickinson College bestows the prestigious Rush Award to exceptional leaders in business or government who uphold humanistic values and whose accomplishments exemplify the value of a liberal arts education.
A reception and dinner was held in Greenlee's honor.
-- The former chef of the Carolina Inn has been named the corporate executive chef of Aramark Sports Entertainment, a Philadelphia-based global support services provider to more than 200 premier sports stadiums, arenas, national and state parks and other tourist destinations.
In his new position, Brian Stapleton will oversee culinary operations and menu development, lead the culinary team and ensure consistent delivery. Stapleton will also work to enhance recipes and promote the use of sustainable products.
Stapleton was promoted to the leadership role from his position as one of five regional executive chefs.
-- Carla Bann, director of program evaluation and outcome measurement in the statistics and epidemiology unit at RTI International, has been appointed to the RTI Fellow Program at the Fellow level by RTI President and CEO Victoria Haynes.
Bann joined RTI in 1999 and was named director of program evaluation and outcome measurement in 2005.
