Multiple charges filed against man
DURHAM -- Cadero Montel Bright, 22, was arrested Friday and charged with multiple offenses.
Court papers listed multiple addresses for Bright, whose first name is spelled in some records as Cordero.
Police allege:
n On Nov. 14, Bright threatened a woman and her unborn child using telephone calls and text messages. He was charged with communicating threats and making a threatening phone call.
n On Nov. 13, Bright restrained another woman, assaulted her with his hands and with a wooden pole, the latter of which inflicted unspecified serious injury; pointed a knife and threatened to kill the woman, stole her keys and grabbed, threw and broke the alleged victim's cell phone when she tried to dial 911. This alleged incident resulted in a second-degree kidnapping charge, the most serious Bright faces; charges of assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, larceny, communicating threats and interfering with emergency communications were also filed.
n On Nov. 9, Bright broke into a home on the 1400 block of Cherry Crest Drive, hit yet another woman in the left eye with a closed fist and a thrown object, and damaged the door, frame and window of the residence. He was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, assaulting a female and damaging property. He was also charged with habitual misdemeanor assault. Court records cited in the arrest warrant indicate that Bright was convicted of assaulting a female on two previous occasions in the last five years.
n On Sept. 4, Bright failed to appear in Durham County court to deal with an alleged child-support arrears of $556.
Bond was not immediately set.
