Player of the game

Deunta Williams, UNC safety -- On his 21st birthday the junior intercepted three passes for 103 yards, including one he returned to Boston College's 1-yard line. He now has a team-high six interceptions this season and 12 for his career.

Play of the game

Williams' grabbed his final interception at BC's 40 and raced toward the end zone. Even though it looked like he had powered his way past all the bodies, a replay showed that he was down at the 1. But Houston needed just one play to get the score and put the game away.

Stat of the game

0 of 13 -- Not only did UNC's defense force six turnovers, it also shut down the Eagles on third-down conversions. BC finished 0 of 13 and recorded just 198 yards of total offense.

What this win means

The Tar Heels were already bowl eligible, but the victory only helps their bowl prospects. If UNC can win its final regular season game next week against N.C. State, it has a chance to get to a more prominent postseason game.
