Price to attend groundbreaking

HILLSBOROUGH -- U.S. Rep. David Price will attend the groundbreaking for Eno Haven, a development at 811 U.S. 70 Alternate East that will create 76 affordable housing units for seniors, at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The development is being built with the help of $5.3 million in funds made available under an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act program.

Price, a Chapel Hill Democrat, has been a strong supporter of local efforts to ensure access to high-quality, affordable housing. Since it was passed by Congress earlier this year, the ARRA has brought over $3.8 billion in federal investments to North Carolina.

Mulch, compost leaves available

The minimum amount that the Hillsborough Public Works Department will deliver is half a truckload, about 10 cubic yards. The area where the leaves are to be dumped must be accessible by a large truck.

For more information or to request delivery of leaves, contact Public Works Supervisor Ken Hines at 732-1270 Ext. 78.

Information session set

HILLSBOROUGH -- An information session on Hillsborough's draft policy for event management and park use will be held from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 3 in Room 201 of Durham Technical Community College's Orange County campus on Waterstone Drive.

Members of the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners and Town of Hillsborough staff will be available to discuss aspects of the proposed policy and hear suggestions and feedback from interested parties.

Since the opening of Gold Park in April, the town has received requests to hold events in the park that have sparked a need for an expanded park policy.

The draft policy is available on the town's Web site on the Events and Park Facilities for Reservation pages and proposes five types of events with different review requirements based on each event's potential impact on town citizens and general safety.

Among other things, the draft event policy is intended to provide public safety at events, limit disruptions caused to those who are not participating and help sponsoring organizations cope with the town's growing pains and inability to provide indefinite services at no cost.
