Since Duke quarterback Thad Lewis single-handedly accounted for six touchdowns in a 49-28 victory at N.C. State, the Blue Devils have just four offensive touchdowns over the past four games. One touchdown obviously won’t be enough against a Miami team that is averaging 31.5 points.
Picking, grinning
Miami quarterback Jacory Harris has thrown nine interceptions over the past four games, including four in last week’s loss at North Carolina. Duke cornerback Leon Wright ranks second in the ACC with five interceptions. Duke needs to take advantage of those trends.
Motivational matters
While Duke must win to keep its postseason hopes alive, it’s harder to gauge Miami’s mindset. The Hurricanes are going bowling regardless of today’s outcome but can’t play for the ACC title. Will Miami be going through the motions, or will the Hurricanes be fully focused following the loss to UNC a week ago?
