DURHAM -- After visiting two ACC teams to start the season, N.C. Central first-year coach LeVelle Moton gets to lead the Eagles at McLendon-McDougald Gym tonight against N.C. Wesleyan.

The men's game will tip off after the NCCU women open their season against Campbell at 5:30 p.m.

Moton was an NCCU player in the most recent meeting between the teams in 1995, scoring 27 points in the Eagles' 93-69 victory.

C.J. Wilkerson and Vincent Davis have emerged at the leading scorers for the Eagles (0-2). Wilkerson, a junior college transfer, has averaged 13.5 points, while Davis, another junior college transfer, has scored at a 10.5-point clip. They also have been NCCU's outside scoring threats, as Wilkerson has hit a pair of 3-pointers in his first two games and Vincent has made three from behind the arc.

Division II Wesleyan enters the game having lost its season-opener 90-73 to Wesley College despite a 23-point effort by 5-8 senior guard Trey Drake.

The Eagles should match up better with Wesleyan after dealing with North Carolina and Miami to start the season. The starts of those games proved to be promising for Moton before the Tar Heels and Hurricanes pulled away.

Tonight's game is the first of 11 home games the Eagles have this season, their third in transition from Division II to Division I and membership in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. NCCU will play five road games before returning Dec. 5 for their next home contest.

The NCCU women also will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to Maryland and Morgan State in their previous outings.

The Eagles have played Campbell nine previous times and trail in the series 7-2.
