Obama to give Fox News an interview

NEW YORK -- President Barack Obama will give an interview to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett, perhaps signaling a thaw in relations between the network and administration.

The White House confirmed Tuesday that Garrett will be included among a round of network interviews that the president is giving today in Beijing. Garrett also posted news of the interview on Twitter.

Fox and the administration have been in a public fight since former White House communications director Anita Dunn said the network acted like the research or communications arm of the Republican Party. The president pointedly avoided Fox when he gave a round of interviews to Sunday shows about his health care plan.

Garrett, Fox's senior White House correspondent and a CNN reporter before moving to Fox, will have 10 minutes with the president. Other network correspondents traveling with the president -- Chip Reid of CBS, Chuck Todd of NBC and Ed Henry of CNN -- will also get interviews. ABC gave up its slot when Jake Tapper spoke to Obama earlier.

It's the first time Obama has spoken specifically to a Fox correspondent since he talked with Garrett in July. Obama gave one other interview to Fox as president, to Sunday morning host Chris Wallace in February.

Seacrest granted restraining order

LOS ANGELES -- A judge has granted a civil restraining order against a man accused of stalking Ryan Seacrest.

The order issued Tuesday requires Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. to stay 100 yards away from the radio and television personality. A criminal court judge granted a similar order against Uzomah earlier this month.

The 25-year-old remains in a Los Angeles jail, charged with felony stalking. He was arrested outside Seacrest's workplace on Oct. 30, just weeks after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in Orange County, Calif. stemming from an incident with Seacrest's bodyguard after an event.

Elton John back on his feet

NEW YORK -- Elton John says he's back on his feet after being sidelined for the flu and an E. coli bacterial infection.

The entertainer spoke about his recovery before Monday's annual benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which honored former President Bill Clinton and Sharon Stone among others.

"The worst thing about being in the hospital was that, actually, it's the first time I've been in bed for about nine days in the whole of my life, except for maybe when I had my tonsils out," he said. "So, I was all right. I had a good rest; I didn't expect it. The worst thing was having to cancel shows. I hate that. But I'm back on my feet and I'm bouncing around now."

The event, entitled "An Enduring Vision," honored Clinton, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Lily Safra and Stone.

"[He's] not always easy because he's true and honest and he really is passionate and he really does care," Stone said. "There isn't any time that I wouldn't show up for him. He's the real thing."

The Elton John AIDS Foundation in part aims to fund innovative HIV prevention programs and to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
